Shillong, August 16: The Border Security Force Frontier Headquarter, Meghalaya celebrated 72nd Independence Day at Umpling, Mawpat and Dobasipara Campuses which started with the `Flag Hoisting’ by Sh. L Mohanti, IPS, Inspector General of Meghalaya Frontier and followed by various programmes at Shillong.
Meghalaya Frontier BSF celebrated 72nd Independence Day at various Battalion/Sectors located at Shillong, Tura, Mawpat. While addressing BSF men at Umpling Camp Inspector General congratulated all recipients of “Police Medal for Meritorious Service”(PMMS) on the occasion of 72nd Independence Day-2018.
To ensure tight security and vigil at the International border, the Sentinels of border has launched special alert for which manpower has been augmented from Headquarters. Special Ops launched at the border to ensure incident free celebration. IG BSF Meghalaya was very appreciative of the troops guarding the border inspite of tough and treacherous terrain defying the weather conditions in remote areas of Meghalaya.
BSF Senior Secondary School, BSF Primary School and Ankur Play School also celebrated Independence Day by organising beautiful cultural programmes. The BSF School Children and families of BSF Jawans also witnessed the above event. Sh. L Mohanti, IPS, Inspector General BSF conveyed his greetings to all the member of the Force in uniform and their families.
