Shillong, Nailur 02: In its continuous efforts to curb cattle smuggling, on 01st Sep’ 2024, vigilant troops of BSF Meghalaya successfully thwarted a cattle smuggling attempt by rescuing cattle and buffaloes from the International border of Meghalaya.
The cattle were intended to be smuggled into Bangladesh through the border area of the West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. Acting on specific information, the 4th Bn BSF troops conducted a special operation near the International border.
During this operation, the party managed to seize 23 cattle, which were concealed in a jungle area near the International border with the intention of smuggling into Bangladesh. The seized cattle were handed over to the concerned police station for further necessary action.
