Shillog, June 08: The BSF Continuing its efforts to extend helping hand and social responsibility, a blood donation camp was organized by Border Security Force on 07 June 2018 in collaboration with NEIGRIHMS, Meghalaya AIDS Control Society and Meghalaya State Blood Transfusion Council.
The camp was attended by large gathering from BSF, MACS & NEIGRIHMS doctor and staff. The border guards living to its expectation of winning the hearts of the local populace by organizing such public outreach programmes to contribute in the noble cause and serve humanity in Meghalaya. More than 80 BSF serving personnel donated their blood in the blood donation camp which was organized at Composite Hospital BSF, Shillong.
Dr S Lyngdoh, Project Director, MACS delivered a lecture on importance of Blood donation and approached all to come forward and donate blood. Mr L Mohanti, IPS, IG BSF HQ Meghalaya delivered a motivation speech to the volunteers. This blood donation camp was a special one for all present there as “Month long observation of Word Donor Day 2018” was launched by IG BSF.
As exemplary commanders of the elite force, Mr L Mohanti, IPS, IG BSF Meghalaya and Dr A C Bhardwajan, DIG/Medical Superintendent of BSF Composite Hospital came forward as the first donors of the day. Altogether serving personnels of BSF including the serving ladies staff of BSF donated blood with a zeal to save the human lives. By doing so border men have exhibited that they are ready to save the civil citizens of India not only by guarding the border but also by donating the blood.
In future more such Blood Donation Camps in collaboration with NEIGRIHMS, Meghalaya AIDS Control Society and Meghalaya State Blood Transfusion Council will be organized by Border Security Force in Meghalaya, said Sh. U K Nayal, DIG/PRO Meghalaya Frontier.
