Shillong, Jan 28: The cabinet today approved a Augmentation of the corpus contingency fund to ensure that there was no disruption of funds to departments while the state assembly was not in session.
Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma told reporters that the finance department felt that the corpus for contingency funds should be raised. The proposal was considered by the cabinet since the Assembly was not in session and which would be regularised as soon as the House seats.
Talking to reporters after the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Mukul sangma said there was an urgent Augmentation of the corpus contingency fund and the state assembly has passed the budget for 3535 crore but the plan allocation which after discussing with planning commission has been fixed to 3939 crores, therefore many of the department which are required to proceed with the programme and whoever are required to have excess normal fund flow are required to get it through the contingency fund, which was presented before the assembly for supplementary demands and are regularised in the assembly.
Dr Mukul Sangma also informed that the finance department felt that the corpus for contingency funds should be raised.
The proposal was considered by the cabinet since the Assembly was not in session and which would be regularised as soon as the House sits, Sangma said. He said that available amount of Rs 105 crores corpus of contingency funds has already been provided to various departments including PHE, Power MeECL and others.(SP News)
