Shillong, July 07: The two Days Regional Capacity Building Workshop and Conference on “Promoting Entrepreneurship among Indigenous Women of NER based on Non Timber Forest Produce” at, State Convention Centre, Shillong, Meghalaya on 8th and 9th July 2024.
The Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, Smti. Rekha Sharma, the two members, Smti Delina Khongdup, Smti. Manta Kumari and Smti. Meenakshi Negi IFS had arrived to Shillong today to attend for the two days workshop and regional conference relating to Women entrepreneurs for non timber Forest produce Workshop and conference will be on 8 and 9 July, 2024 at State Convention Centre
About 200 rural Women entrepreneurs, cultivators, SHG members, traditional Medicinal Plant growers will attend on 8 July and officials and stakeholders including academic scholars and industry practitioners will join on 9 July at State Convention Centre Shillong
The National Commission for Women is organizing a Regional Capacity Building Workshop and Conference on “Promoting Entrepreneurship among Indigenous Women of NER based on Non Timber Forest Produce” at, State Convention Centre, Shillong, Meghalaya on 8th and 9th July 2024 in collaboration with Meghalaya Biodiversity Board.
This event, taking place over two days, will include sessions on market dynamics, technology adoption, value chain challenges, and income augmentation. . The participants for the workshop include cultivators, collectors, healers and traders of traditional medicine, Folk healers, SHGs, NTFP collectors, farmers.
The conference will also bring together key stakeholders from various sectors, including State Women Commissions, line departments such as Forest, AYUSH, and subject matter experts, to develop actionable plans and strategies and to foster sustainable economic development through NTFP-based entrepreneurship.
The expected outcomes are development of strategies for market integration and adoption of relevant technologies to enhance business operations and market reach, Identifying bottlenecks and creation of detailed action plans to overcome value chain challenges.
The enhancement of efficiency and profitability, generation of innovative ideas and actionable plans for diversifying income streams, enhancing economic resilience and sustainability and to create a collaborative environment for promoting NTFP-based entrepreneurship among indigenous women in the North Eastern Region (NER).
