Shillong, March 07: The Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank has been serving since 1971 for the years the bank has become a household in Meghalaya and constantly making profit over the years and all the branches of the bank are on core banking solution.
The Bank is providing others services, such as Mobile banking, IMPS, RTGS,NEFT and ATM services to its customers, presently the bank is availing of technical support from Yeas Bank for operationalsing some of its services.
The Chief Minister Mr Conrad said that the Reserve Bank of India has put Yes Bank under a moratorium of thirty days with effect from 5th March, 2020. As a result some of the services of the MCAB have been temporally disrupted and effort are being made to restor this services at the earliest.
The Chief Minister said that the foundation of both these banks, the Meghalaya Co-operative Apex Bank and Meghalaya Rural Bank are very strong and whatever challenges right now has no impact on the foundation and the financial strength of both the Banks.
It just so happen that some of the services that have been provided on the technical platform on the Yes Bank platform are being avail through the Yes Bank, otherwise there is no impact was there on the foundation soundness of both this Bank.
The MACB is fully committed, and in a sound financial position to honour all of its commitment to its customers and request its customers during this time to bear, the Government of Meghalaya has assured that there is no intention to withdraw any deposit from MCAB since the government is confidence of the Bank wellbeing.
The Reserved Bank of India has issue the notification and confer status to MCAB and MRB as schedule Bank, this is a clear indication of the financial soundness and the strength of the Bank by the RBI.
The Chief Minister said that it has come to their notice of both the Banks that some mischievous that some messages are circulating through social media urging people to withdraw their funds from both the Meghalaya Co-operative Apex Bank Ltd. and the Meghalaya Rural Bank.
In this regard, the MCAB has file an FIR has already been lodged with Sadar Police Station, Shillong against the perpetrators. Both the Banks and the Government request members of the public to ignore such messages.
The Chief Minister said that for the MCAB the services that have been affected are, Mobile Banking, RTGS, IMPS, NEFT services and to some extend ATM services which required technical support have been affected both the Banks and for the MRB is only cheque clearing services.
The Chief Minister sai that both the Banks have arrange with others Bank for technical support and both this bank will be able to provide the services at the earliest, the Chief Minister said that the services will be resume at the earliest.
