The FKJGP in the letter mention that there is a major opposed by the various localities since it’s a new concept which the people across the state are not aware what will be the outcome by introducing the smart meter in every house hold so it will be very wise that the if the department take the first initiative step by creating and awareness program about the whole concept of the installation of the Smart meter.
The organization claim that they are aware about the functioning of the smart meter is as per the advance technology in which the reading will be through communication, internet networks in all the device in which in the meanwhile the network connection activities in our state is not appropriated, so this will be one of the major factor in which a lots of problems will be facing by the consumer in the installations of this Smart Meter.
The organization seek the clarification from your end why there is an escalation in the rate of the smart meter as seen in the print media i.e Rs.3750/- during the last two years but suddenly now it come to Rs. 5000/- below well as per the LOA the cost is Rs 9444.44 with has created lots of doubts and confusion among all the stake holders.
The FKJGP has no intension to go against any advance practice by the department to promote or to conduct any activities for the intention of the MeECL which will be benefit to the state as per the present generation to uplift the standard of the functioning which will be the win-win situation for both the consumers and the Govt. of Meghalaya.

In the mean while the FKJGP is strongly advised the Government to start the installation of smart meters to all the Government properties such as office quarters, Industries, Govt. Undertaking Establishment as a pilot project.
If it is successful then the same can be extended to all the consumers of the State. As for now the Federation will still strongly opposed unless and until the outcome has not been shown for the public interest, the letter was sign by Mr Dundee Cliff Khongsit Working President.
