Shillong, July 30: The AYWO, FKJGP and GSU, wishes to understand the reasons for the cancellation of the validity and why the interview conducted for the two post of Asst. Lecturer in the Food Craft Institute, Tura is declared null and void citing violation of criteria.
In the letter sent to the Chairman of the MPSC the GSU said that they smell rat urine fine tuned like a cat’s olfactory receptors with vomeronasal organ about possible manipulations and corruption in the whole appointment process. We object the attempt by the MPSC to manipulate and deign such actions to be beneath the state recognised body accruing powers from article 315 of the Indian Constitution.
The MPSC “invited from genuine citizens of India” who are desirous to apply as per terms and conditions of the advertisement for recruitment as part for two posts of the Asst. Lecturers in the FCI, Tura. There have been applicants for the vacant posts at the FCI, Tura under Tourism Department and twenty candidates were selected for the personal interview on the 27th June’18 at Shillong.
The GSU are discombobulated by the fact that twenty candidates were selected for the interview based supposedly on the eligibility of their candidature but later declared ineligible for the post. The question arises why the hopeful aspirants were asked to appear for the interview when it was known that they are probably not eligible for the post.
Is the whole interview a whitewash, an intended subterfuge Were two persons already selected clandestinely for the post but due to wrong calculations and circumstances unable to be effected. The scenario succumbs to the reasoning that intended calculations of the MPSC was thwarted otherwise why were the hosts of eligible candidates declared ineligible. Of the 20 people invited to undergo the appointment rigmarole through personal interview twelve people were from the Garo tribe. Of the twelve Garos some candidates fulfilled in full the criteria laid down by the MPSC.
The GSU claim that they tracked down the Garo candidates and have asked for their credentials to ascertain how they were declared as ineligible candidates. We stand corrected that some Garo candidates fulfilled the criteria and we are sure that some Khasi candidates will have the required criteria. Because one or two Garo candidate upon initial inspection, we find, is fully eligible.
Another point to be noted is the fact that Job Reservation Policies exists in Meghalaya if there were only two post why did the MPSC invited “genuine citizens of India” when there are scores of educated indigenous people who scour for employment each year. Just like the rest of India, the educated youth of Meghalaya is burdened with the scary prospect of unemployment. Besides the Supreme Court ruling is being violated here regarding advertisement of vacant posts.
There have been rumours doing rounds those two weeks or so before the conduct of the interview that the interview will be cancelled because two candidates chosen clandestinely for the vacant posts have either opted for a different employment opportunity. The warning came true and the candidates have been declared ineligible despite appearing for the interview.
The obvious retrospect engages the fact why were the candidates asked to appear for interview if they were not eligible wasting their time and money. We condemn the whole episode as something to do with corruption. Such kind of antics must not be tolerated in a democratic set up and must be denounced and expostulate with this extreme style of bureaucratic expediency for agendas set for the gain of few. We commiserate with the aspiring candidates for the kind of treatment that has been handed out to them.
The GSU demand that the interview conducted for the vacant posts be validated or clear reasons for the declaration of all the candidates’ ineligibility be fully explained for the knowledge of all.
The GSU demand that two most eligible of candidates who appeared for interview be selected and appointed as Asst. Lecturer of FCI, Tura keeping in line with the job reservation policy.
The GSU said that they will pursue this matter to the highest level and will not eschew agitation programs till our demands are fulfilled. We hope that this episode is corrected at the earliest.
