Shillong, May 20: The 1st Advisory Committee of the “CoVID-19 Pandemic, Farmers’ Crisis of Hill Farmers’ Union was held via video conference today.The committee’s purpose was to discuss and address to the farmers’ Crisis due impact of Covid – 19 Crisis.
The meeting was organised by Hill Farmers’ Union and was attended by its COVID Crisis Advisory members, CEO, NABARD Foundation, Managing Director of NERAMAC, Ministry of DoNER, DGM, Advisory & Consulting, NeDFi, Senior Technical Officer, UNDP, Chairman SPIKAP and Adviser, Federation of Khasi State, Advisers of Hill Farmers’ Union and Industry Experts.
The committee members discussed on various issues faced by the Agrarian Society of Meghalaya and the opportunities that has emerged due to the CoVID-19 crisis. Emphasis of leveraging the opportunities with technology intervention and various strategies, methodologies were discussed by the members.
The members would convene a follow-up meeting in the coming week and would submit a policy advocacy report with its findings of the gaps and strategy to resolve the gaps by the end of the month to the Govt. Of Meghalaya.
