Shillong, July 12: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council today has written to the Chief Minister Cornad K Sangma urged the state government that the Dorbar Shnongs over the years has been of immense important for the proper and successful implementation of various State as well as Central Governments welfare schemes at the grassroot level.
With the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, the active participation, cooperation and responsibilities of the Dorbar Shnongs has become important more than ever in this fight against Covid-19. The State Government and its Departments requires the full cooperation of the Dorbar Shnongs in order to perform different activities related to the disease.
The HYC said that, it is a fact that had the Dorbar Shnongs not taken the responsibility and the decision to work together with the Government in this fight against Covid-19 by performing different activities in their respective jurisdictions.
The State Government would have been in a very difficult situations to contain the spread of virus in the State. Hence, the Dorbar Shnongs should be appreciated for their contributions and cooperations.
It was made to understand that these Dorbar Shnongs perform their responsibilities and duties without any financial assistance or recognition from the State Government or the ADCs but from their own limited resources on account of contributions of the residents of the Dorbar. Inspite of all the difficulties and problems, the Dorbar shnongs are performing their responsibilities diligently.
The HYC urged the State Government as a whole, to provide special financial assistance as incentive to the Dorbar shnongs, through the respective ADCs, as recognition and reward for their services so that they may continue to work for the welfare of the people in the grassroot level alongwith the State Government.
