New Delhi, July 21: The Jaintia Students Union (JSU) is advocating for the summer capital state to be established in the Jaintia Hills region, similar to the demand made by the ACHIK in Tura as winter capital.
They believe that the Jaintia Hills region deserves to be the capital state because it generates significant revenue for the state through natural resources like coal and limestone, cement plants and yet it has not seen much development compared to other areas.
While the JSU’s argument about the region’s contribution to the state’s revenue is valid, it is essential to approach such matters with a broader perspective.
The decision to relocate a capital city involves assessing the impact on various regions, the potential for balanced development, and the overall welfare of the citizens.
