Shillong, Sept 09: The Meghalaya boys’ football team won their opening match of the Sub-Junior National Football Championship North East zone 3-0 over Assam in Imphal on Sunday.
Meghalaya scored through Colinsalmon Lyngdoh (26′, 72′) and Samachaphrang Lato (40′). Meghalaya dominated both halves of the game, with Lyngdoh, Lato, Teibok Nongrum and Samlang Rympei playing particularly well.
The next match for Meghalaya will be on Tuesday against Mizoram. The 20-member squad is led by coach Jefferey Warlarpih and manager Beneslaus Khyriem. W Khainly Roy Saikhia is the physio.
