The MNREDA has been conferred the prestigious SKOCH Gold Award 2026

Shillong, June 29: The Meghalaya New and Renewable Energy Development Agency  (MNREDA), has been conferred the prestigious SKOCH Gold Award 2026 Under Power and Energy Sector for Govt. od Meghalaya’s Flagship initiative, “CM Solar Mission” The award was presented on 20th June 2026 during the 108th SKOCH Summit  Public Policy Forum on  “Regulatory Framework for Viksit Bharat,” held at the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi.

The award was received on behalf of the Directorate by Ms. Elizabeth Kharjana, Asst.  Director, MNREDA and Ms. Audrey H. Mukhim Accountant, MNREDA.

The Chief Minister’s Solar Mission is a flagship initiative of the Government of Meghalaya aimed  at addressing energy poverty and improving access to reliable electricity through clean and  sustainable technologies.

The scheme seeks to empower households, institutions, and enterprises by providing solar hybrid inverter systems of varying capacities along with solar water heaters, supported through a combination of state subsidies, beneficiary contributions, and bank financing.

Designed with a holistic, solution-based approach, the mission covers end-to-end  deployment including supply, installation, maintenance, and service support catering  especially to rural and underserved areas with limited grid access.

By promoting decentralized renewable energy adoption, the mission is expected to enhance energy security, reduce  dependence on conventional power sources, improve quality of life, and drive socio-economic  development while contributing to environmental sustainability and climate resilience in the state.

MNREDA dedicates the success of the Chief Minister’s Solar Mission to the collective efforts of  the Power Department Govt. of Meghalaya, technical partners, and the communities whose active participation has been instrumental in advancing the mission across the state.

Their commitment and collaboration have enabled the seamless rollout of decentralized renewable energy solutions, particularly in remote and underserved regions.

The Government reaffirms its commitment to  promoting sustainable, inclusive, and technology-driven energy interventions that enhance energy access, strengthen livelihoods, and contribute to the overall socio-economic and environmental well-being of the people of Meghalaya.
