Shillong, April 08: The attention of the North East Students’ Organisation (NESO), the representing eight major students’ movements of the seven North Eastern States, is drawn to the manifesto of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which was released today the 8th April 2019 for the ensuing Lok Sabha Election 2019, in which it has clearly mentioned that the BJP is committed for the enactment of the Citizenship Amendment Bill if it comes back to power after the election.
It may be reminded that the whole of North East was up in arms in recent months against the move by the Government of India to pass this CAB in the Rajya Sabha. In this regard, NESO strongly condemns this move by the BJP as it clearly shows that it has no regard for the welfare of the microscopic indigenous communities of the North East but rather this move is to reduce us to a minority in our own land.
The NESO once again would like to reiterate that it does not distinguish people on the basis of their religion ‘a foreigner is a foreigner irrespective whether a muslim or a hindu’. NESO would like to send a clear message that it will not allow anyone to put our future generation at risk and the movement is on and will continue for uplift, safeguard, protection from both internal and external aggression, said Mr Samuel B Jyrwa Chairman of the NESO and Mr Sinam Prakash Sing Secretary Genenral NESO in the press statement today.
