The NLU hosted a one-day hybrid workshop titled “Welcoming India’s New Criminal Code”

Shillong, July 02: The National Law University Successfully hosted a one-day hybrid workshop titled “Welcoming India’s New Criminal Code” on 1st July 2024.

The workshop was aimed at providing a detailed understanding of the newly enacted criminal code in India, discussing its implications, and facilitating a platform for legal experts, law enforcement officers, scholars, and the public to engage in meaningful discourse.

The opening remark wad given by Mr. Debu Lyngdoh Joint Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya Law department and the key not address was given by Mr. Cyril V Darlong Diengdoh IAS, Secretary to Government of Meghalaya, Department of Law.

Prof. Khushal Vibhute professor of law gave detail presentation on the three new criminal laws that was implemented in the country from 1st July 2024. During the panel discussion featuring legal experts, scholars, and practitioners who will delve into various aspects of the new criminal code, including its historical context, major changes, and practical applications.

Attendees both Physical on Virtually could engage in Q&A sessions, group discussions, to deepen their understanding of the new legal provisions. There are 15 students from Shillong Law College and National Law University and 176  Participant connected as virtually.

The one-day hybrid workshop on “Welcoming India’s New Criminal Code” concluded with closing remarks fromRapporteure who summarized the key takeaways from the discussions and emphasized the importance of continuous learning and adaptation in the legal field.

The workshop was well-received, with participants expressing appreciation for the comprehensive coverage of the new criminal code and the interactive format of the event.
