The NLU Meghalaya organised one day seminar focused on Artificial Intelligence

Shillong, Oct 07: The National Law University Meghalaya, in collaboration with the National Commission for Women, organized a one day regional seminar titled “Harnessing AI Opportunities for Women in North-East India.

“The event focused on bow Artificial Intelligence (A) can empower women in the region by creating pathways for professional growth, enhancing digital literacy, and addressing challenges in the digital age.

The seminar featured prominent speakers, ineluding Dr. Gypsy Nandi from Assam Don Bosco University, and Smt. Aisha Vellintihun Hujon from St. Anthony’s  who discussed “Navigating the Al Landscape: Opportunities, Threats, and Safeguards for Women in the North- East.” Their session emphasized the need for women’s active involvement in shaping the future of AI.

Dr. Surmila Thokchon from NIT Meghalaya led a session on “Essential Skills for the Al Age” cyber security and Digital Literacy Jor Women, highlighting the importance of cyber security knowledge and digital literacy in todays  world.

Another key session, “Empowering the Next Generation of Women in Al,” was delivered by Dr. Rosy Sarmah of Tezpur University and Dr. Teena Sharna of India institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, stressing the role of mentorship in preparing women for leaclership in Al.

The event concluded with a positive outlook on the future of Al for women in the North-East. It provided a platform for collaboration, learning, and networking, all with the goal of fostering a more infusive Al-driven future for women in the region.
