Shillong, June 23: As part of the Observation of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2023, theoffice of the District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong in collaboration with the office of the District Child Protection Officer, District Child Protection Unit, East Khasi Hills District.
Road show was organised in collaboration NGOs Kripa Foundation & KJP Synod Sepngi, Urban Mission, Shillong organized a three days Roadshow programmes on the 20th June, 2023 at Motphran & Mawlai Phudmuri, Shillong, on the 21st June at Jhalupara and Laimer Kyntonand on the 22nd June, 2023 at Police Bt House, Laitumkhrah and Lad Smit, East Khasi Hills District.
The programmes were chaired byShri.B.Chyne, Protection Officer (Non-Institutional Care), O/o District Child Protection Officer, District Child Protection Unit, East Khasi Hills District where Introductory speech about the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was shared ineach of the programme.
During the programme, folklores was presented byRJ Zack from 93.5 Red FM, South Asia LTD, Shillong. A welcome address was delivered by the Representative from the concerned Locality. During the programme, a pledge taking ceremony were conducted and all the participants and the public in general are participated.
Flash mob from the students Bachelor of Social Work, St. Edmund’s College, Shillong were presented in each and every scene of the programmes. Pamphlets/ Flyers were being distributed to all the participants and all the public at large.
A speech from the experts, Shri.S. Marbaniang, Counsellor, New Life De-addiction Centre, KJP Synod Sepngi, Urban Mission, Shri.Keshab Lamsal, Counsellor, Kripa Foundation (ODIC), Shillong and Smti.Grace Thongni, Counsellor, Kripa Foundation, De-addiction Centre for Male Children, Shillong were delivered and it spoke about the basic of drug, Ill effects of drugs, alcoholism and other substance abuse.
Information on National Toll Free Helpline 14446 issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, availability and facilities including the contact details and emails about the De-addiction Centres under East Khasi Hills District also have been shared during the programme.
