Maligaon, August 26: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N. F. Railway yet again proves their ground with prompt investigation and operations by bringing an end to the heinous murder mystery of a 45 yrs old lady at Kamakhya railway station of Assam.
On 16th August, 2023, at about 14:37 hours, tensions prevailed at platform No. 02 of Kamakhya railway station, when an unconscious body was of a lady named Pompi Sharma Haloi, aged about 45 years of Nalbari was found lying near the toilet inside a coach of train No.15619 (Gaya-Kamakhya Express) when it arrived at Kamakhya station. After taking her to the nearest railway hospital she was declared brought dead.
Acting on this incident, a team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) immediately initiated a massive investigation and search operation to apprehend the criminal connected to the crime. During investigation, it was noticed that the deceased belongings like gold jewelry, mobile phone etc. weremissing.
It was assumed that the culprit might have taken these.On this assumption, the IMEI number of the missing mobile phone of the victim was put on alert and that is where the accused took the bait and was traced when he tried to use the phone just for few minutesthat was kept on live tracking.
The photo of the new sim holder (suspect) was retrieved through SDR and social media and later information was gathered through local sources to confirm the details of the suspect. On, 24th August, 2023, the accused’s live location was monitored and an ambush was laid by the joint team successfully apprehending the heinous criminal near Kamakhya Station.
The objectives of the RPF of NFR is to carry on an unrelenting fight against criminals in protecting railway properties and facilitating passenger’s safety and security by removing all anti-social element forms from trains and railway premises.
Though, incidents occur that marks a question on the Railways but the RPF is always there to stand tall and proves it that crimes and criminals will never prosper till the time ends making the rail journey safer like never before.
