The RPF of NFR apprehended four touts recovered railway tickets worth One Lakh

Maligaon, December 23 The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway conducted different drives over this zoneand apprehended four touts during last few days for illegal sale of railway tickets.

During 17th to 20th December, 2023, RPF of N. F. Railway recovered 32 railway tickets worth more than Rs. one lakh.Apprehended touts were prosecuted under the relevant section of the Railways Act.

In a recent incident on 20th December, 2023, CIB team of RPF/ New Jalpaiguri jointly with RPF of Siliguri Jn. conducted checking at PRS counterlocated at Siliguri Town.

During checking, the RPF team apprehended one personnamely Bivash Sarkar and recovered one railway ticket worth Rs. 1380/-. In this regard,a case was registered under section 143 of the Railways Act.

In an incidenton 19th December, 2023, CIB team of RPF/ Tinsukia jointly with RPF of Tinsukia and Dibrugarhalong with Cyber Cell/Tinsukiaconducted checking in a shop located atTinsukia.

During checking, the RPF team apprehended one personnamely Sandeep Maurya and recovered 15 railway tickets worth around Rs. 22,460/-. In this regard, a case was registered under section 143 of the Railways Act.

In another incident on 17th December, 2023, CIB team of RPF/ New Jalpaiguri jointly with RPF of Kishanganj conducted drive in a shop located at Powakhali MainRoad, Kishanganj in Bihar. During checking, the RPF team apprehended one personnamely Noor Mohd.and recovered 06 railway tickets worth Rs. 18,375/- (approx.).

In this regard, a case was registered under section 143 of the Railways Act.On the same day, CIB team of RPF/Aliprurduar Jn. jointly with CPDS/Alipurduar Jn. conducted checking in a shop located atSonapurChowpatty, Alipurduar in West Bengal.

During checking, the RPF team apprehended one person namely Kamal Roy and recovered 10 railway tickets worth Rs. 65,789/-. In this regard, a case was registered under section 143 of the Railways Act.

It may be mentioned here that, during the period from 1stJanuary, 2023to 20thDecember, 2023, RPF of N. F. Railway registered 98 cases,recovered 664 railway tickets worth more than Rs. 16.81 lakhs and apprehended 104 touts.

The RPF of N. F. Railway keeps close vigil on touting activities to prevent illegal selling of railway tickets. Unauthorized supply and procurement of railway tickets is punishable offence under section 143 of the Railways Act.
