Shillong, March 04: Mr.Rakkam A Sangma minister incharge education in his reply to the question brought by Mr. Brightstarwell Marbaniang said that the buildings construction viz, Academic block, Administrative block and Boys’ and Girls hostels of Shillong Government college of Engineering, Shillong was completed and inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya on 16th January, 2023.
The service connection viz, water supply, Electrical connections, etc. of Shilllong Government college of Engineering, Shillong are in place. Government has conveyed approval for establishment of Shillong Government College of Engineering and 55 (fifty five ) posts were created.
Government has allowed Additional Director Polytechnic and Shillong Engineering College to hold additional charge as Principal, Shillong Government College of Engineering. Government has conveyed approval to place 13 (thirteen) existing faculty of Shillong Polytechnic who are qualified for teaching in the Engineering College.
NEHU has conveyed approval for provisional affiliation for Shillong Government College of Engineering for a period of three years. On 26th December, 2024, Shillong Government College of Engineering (SGCE) Shillong has applied for AICTE Approval to start two Technical Courses i.e., Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
Subsequently, two AICTE scrutiny meeting were held on 22/01/2025 and 4/2/2025.Experts from AICTE have advised the college authority to comply on some of the infrastructure deficiencies which are being addressed.
