Guwahati, July 04: In line with its vision to support the ‘Skill India’ mission,Toyota Kirloskar Motor [TKM] today announced the “Scholarship program for Technical Education And Recognition” [STAR]under its Toyota Technical Education Program [T-TEP] initiative.
The program is aimed at supporting students who have successfully completed 10th standard but unable to pursue their higher studies in technical institutes(ITI/Polytechnics).
With focus on developing the untapped potential of North,East and North-East region, the STAR initiative will empower and provide opportunities to deserving studentsfrom challenging economic backgrounds.
This unique pilot program will benefit number of students, across 11 states, such as Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkand, Bihar, Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
Thescholarship announcement event was graced by our Chief Guest, Shri Jayanta Mallabaruah, Hon’ble Minister Public Health Engineering; Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship and Tourism Departments, Government of Assamand Mr. Vikram Gulati, the Country Head and Executive Vice President of Toyota Kirloskar Motor.
Through the STAR initiative, TKM aims to provide a platform for these talented individuals toenhance their skill level and knowledge of advanced technologies to meet the requirements of a growing automotive sector.
Scholarships upto Rs 51,000 per year will be offered toeligible students from financial challenging backgrounds thereby providing opportunities to deserving students covering hostel fees, educational expenses, and family support.
Students can submit their scholarship application at the time of admission at select institutes. Further to promote women empowerment, the program offers a 30% reservation for female students.
The selection process involves a written test followed by an interview with prior intimation to the eligible students. On completion of TTEP curriculum, students enrolled in the STAR program undergo internships at Toyota dealerships for a period of minimum 6 ~ 12 months.
With the automotive industry undergoing a transformative phase, TKM has been bridging the gap between industry and institutes through the T-TEP since 2006. Collaborating with ASDC covering 62 institutes across 25 states, this program has trained over 12,000 students, resulting in a high employment rate.
TKM’s initiative, includes specialized programs and one-month on-the-job training at Toyota Authorized Dealerships, enhancing employability and contributing to fulfilling career aspirations in the automotive sector.
Present at the event, Shri Jayanta Mallabaruah,Hon’ble Minister,Public Health Engineering; Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship and Tourism Departments, Government of Assam said they applaud Toyota’s commitment to bridge the gap between industry and institutes through their T-TEP program and promoting skill development in our region.
The scholarship support will immensely benefit needy students from rural backgrounds to gain valuable insights into Toyota’s values, best practices, advanced technologies thereby contributing to their overall skill development.
In addition, the collaborative efforts of industry partners likeToyota, will enhance the availability of world class workforce among students from the North, East and North-East regions furthering to fufil their career aspirations besides contributing immensely to the growth of the auto sector.”
