Mawkyrwat, December 7: With the policy of the Government is to provide better health care to the people in the rural areas, the Umjarain Health Sub-Centre under Mawkyrwat Community Health Centre was inaugurated on Friday by the Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Health and Family Welfare Department Mr Rowell Lyngdoh in presence of the Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills District Mr A.Mawlong IAS.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function held at Umjarain , the Deputy Chief Minister stated that the presence of this Health Sub-Centre in the area it would definitely cater to the needs of the people in respect of health care services adding that doctors and nurses would be available to help the sick people with medical treatment.
He also advised the people to be self-responsible of caring about their own health by taking the advantage of meeting the doctors in the Sub-Centre for their regular medical checkup and prevention.
Mr Lyngdoh also informed that the state government has tied up with Company for implementation of RSBY scheme where heart and cancer patients would be benefited. He also expressed that the state Government through the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was trying hard to strengthen the health care services in the state by creating awareness to the people in rural areas for caring about their own health. Further, he also urged upon the people to extend their cooperation with Government for the smooth implementation of various developmental schemes and projects.
The meeting was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner, Mawkyrwat Mr A. Mawlong IAS, and among others who spoke on the occasion included the District Medical and Health Officer, Nongstoin Dr. P.Lyngkhoi, whereas Dr W.W. Phira, District T.B. Officer Nongstoin gave the welcome address.(SP News)
