Shillong, Jan 23: The two day 69th Plenary Meeting of the North Eastern Council was inaugurated by the Union Home Minister and Chairman of the North Eastern Council, Shri Amit Shah in the presence of Dr Jitendra Singh, Vice Chairman of NEC who is also the Minister of State, Development of North Eastern Region at Shillong on 23rd January, 2021.
The North Eastern Council is the nodal agency for the economic and social development of the North Eastern Region which consists of the eight States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim.
It may be mentioned here that in the plenary meeting, confirmation of the proceedings and tabling of the action taken report of the 68th Plenary meeting held in September,2019 will be taken up besides presentations by Ministries of Development of North Eastern Region, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Civil Aviation, Finance, Commerce and Industry, Food Processing Industries, Health and Family Welfare, Power, Railway, Road Transport and Highways, School Education and Literacy, Tourism, Telecommunications, Water Resources and Ganga Rejuvenation and Departments of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and also presentations by State Governments.
