Shillong, Sept 17: In the wake of the recent rare, unexpected and surprised incident where fourteen black foreign nationals were caught consecutively by the police of East Jaintia Hills District while they were illegally entering into the State, and the Mainland India. With the recent exclusion of more than 19 lakhs residents from the Assam’s NRC, now, in the larger interest gor the People and for security and safety reasons.
The AJYWO states that the police, the dorbar shnong and the Nokmas have to act and work alertly, wisely, actively and faithfully together hand in hand now, to detect and identify whether there are any illegal residents, settlers,labourers etc.
In the state of Meghalaya, in all the residential areas, especially in the populated and populous and congested residential and commercial areas, towns and city like Shillong, where there are residents and settlers or labourers etc. of various mixed communities.
The identity, credential and legality of each and every residents, settlers, labourers etc. in the State have to be examined, detected and determined properly, and if found as such illegal immigrants, the courses of the relevant laws of the Land have to be fully and accordingly applied against such illegal migrants.
In addition to this, the AJYWO urges the Government of Meghalaya to fully implement the the long pending District Task Force incorporated in Section 5 of the MRSS Act-2016, in letter and spirit, in all the districts of the State.
The AJYWO also states that it is a high time now for us as the indigenous residents of the State, the NGOs, the Dorbar Shnongs and the Nokmas to be on the alert and work together to ensure that no illegal migrants shall be allowed to find their refuge illegally in our State.
