Shillong, Nov 13: The National Institute of Technology Meghalaya (NIT Meghalaya) in collaboration with North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Shillong is organizing a two-day workshop titled “Viksit Bharat 2047 – Atmanirbhar North-East” on November 15th and 16th, 2024.
This event of immense regional and national significance will be conducted at the permanent campus of NIT Meghalaya, Saitsohpen, Sohra (Cherrapunji), East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya (India).
The workshop aims to bring together policymakers, academic leaders, industry experts, and youth representatives from across the Northeast region to engage in discussions centered around the theme of “Atmanirbhar North-East.” This event is part of the broader national initiative to realize a self-reliant and developed India, or “Viksit Bharat,” by the year 2047.
The focus of the workshop will be on identifying and addressing key opportunities and challenges in the Northeast region across areas such as education, technology, sustainable development, entrepreneurship, and infrastructure.
As NEP2020 is being implemented, the ideas of North East along with the traditions and practices are to be incorporated so that NEP 2020 becomes all-encompassing and inclusive.
Through collaborative discussions and knowledge-sharing, the workshop seeks to inspire actionable strategies and policies that align with the goal of fostering a self-reliant Northeast that contributes robustly to India’s progress by 2047.

The chief guest of the event is Shri Atul Kothari Ji, National Secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, New Delhi. and notable speakers and experts in various fields, government officials, industry leaders, and representatives from both NIT Meghalaya and NEHU, as well as other educational institutions across India. Attendees will engage in panel discussions, interactive sessions, and presentations on topics pertinent to the theme of the workshop along with cultural programs.
