Heavy vehicles prohibited on Tarapara area due to poor road condition

Ampati, June 12: The District Magistrate of South West Garo Hills, Kum. Anendya Raajsshre, IAS, has issued a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, restricting the movement of all heavy vehicles along the Tarapara stretch at Km 50 of the Garobadha–Dalu Road (SH-12) with immediate effect.

The order was issued following reports from the PWD (Roads), Ampati Division, indicating that the road condition at the said location has deteriorated significantly. Heavy vehicles travelling through the stretch have reportedly been getting stuck, causing traffic disruptions and further damage to the road.

In the interest of public safety and to prevent additional deterioration of the road infrastructure, the District Magistrate has directed that all heavy vehicles be prohibited from plying on the affected stretch until repair works are completed and the road is declared fit for heavy vehicular traffic by the PWD (Roads), Ampati Division.

The public and transport operators are advised to comply strictly with the order. Any violation will attract action under the relevant provisions of law. The order came into effect on June 12, 2026, and shall remain in force until further notification.
