Bollywood actor John visits Ward’s Lake, Celebrates Meghalaya’s mpusical heritage

Shillong, July 31: Renowned Bollywood actor and founder of Northeast United FC (NEUFC),
John Abraham, visited the iconic Ward’s Lake in Shillong today, highlighting Meghalayas vibrant tourism, music and cultural heritage.
During his visit, he took a leisurely walk around the lake promenade, interacting with visitors and tourism stakeholders while appreciating the scenic beauty and tranquil ambience of one of Shillong’s most popular tourist destinations.
As part of the visit, John Abraham attended a specially curated live performance by artists of the Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Grassroots Music Program (CM-MGMP) and later interacted with the participating musicians. He was briefed on the programme and its role in nurturing Meghalaya’s rich
musical heritage, supporting young and emerging artists, and further strengthening Shillong’s reputation as the Music Capital of India.
Descibing Ward’s Lake as a pristine and beautiful destination’ John Abraham said it remains one of Meghalaya’s biggest tourist attractions.
He appreciated the performances by the CM-MGMP artists, calling the experience a ‘revelation, and lauded theĀ  Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K. Sangma, for creating opportunities that encourage musicians across the State to showcase their talent, earn a livelihood and promote Meghalaya’s rich musical traditions.
“7 have come here for the first time and
trust me I will be back very soon in my on time, where I can just sit ona swing, walk on the bridge and spend some time”he added.
John Abraham also commended the Tourist Buddies initiative for its role in assisting visitors, particularly tourists, and for helping create a more welcoming, safe and visitor-friendly tourism experience across the State.
Under the leadership of the Shri Conrad K Sangma, the Government of Meghalaya has been making sustained investments in tourism infrastructure while promoting the State’s vibrant music, culture and festivals to strengthen its position as one of the country’s leading tourism destinations.
By integrating tourism, music and community participation, Meghalaya continues to build a tourism model that celebrates its natural beauty, artistic traditions and cultural heritage while creating meaningful opportunities for local artists and contributing to the State’s economy.
