Shillong, May 13: Today a joint meeting was held between the Chief Executive Member of the KHADC, the NGOs and the elders of Hima Nongspung to discussed in the incident that has taken place at New Balakhawa in Ri Bhoi District where the Secretary of the Hima Mr Michael Warjri was arrested by the Assam police though his house wan ransacked by the mob from Assam.
The meeting was chaired by the CEM Mr Teinwell Dkhar and attended by Mr PN Syiem Chairman of the KHADC, the leader of the opposition Mr Lamphrang Blah and the Executive Members and MDCs, Mr Gigur Myrthong, Mr. RV Lyngdoh Mr Mitchell Wankhar.
From the NGOs was attended by Mr. Wilbert Rani President FKJGP, Mr Sadon K Blah Gen Secretary HNYF, Pa’iem Patrick Syiemiong Syiem of Hima Nongspung, Smti B Jyrwa President HANM woman’s wing and others.
The meeting had discussed on the incident occurred at Balakhwa and have decided that a delegation from the KHADC, HNYF, FKJGP, Hima Nongspung will meet the Chief Minister tomorrow the to submit memorandum to urged the State Government to demand from its Assam counterpart that they should handover the custody of Mr. Michael Warjri to Meghalaya.
The meeting has also decided to constitute a committee which will collect all land records from the various Hima which help to identify the boundaries especially those areas bordering Assam. They have also decided to demand from the government for setting up of police outpost at Balakhwa, registration of land should be free.
