Shillong, March 13: A Civic Action Programme organized by BSF in the area of Muktapur of distt West Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya. The programme was inaugurated by Sh. D S Bisht, Comdt,108 Bn BSF, Meghalaya Frontier. Dorbar heads of all the villages, local prominent leaders, also chaired the programme. Appx 500 People from surrounding villages of Muktapur participated in the programme.
Civic Action programme are being conducted as a central plan to improve the quality of life and welfare of the border population, upgrade the existing infrastructure and create new avenues for bringing positive changes in the life of the border population. This is one of the many public-outreach programme, BSF has undertaken to improve the life of border population. BSF had been organizing such programmes in the past and will continue to do so in the future also.
During Civic Action Programme, following items were distributed to children of Muktapur Govt Bangali UP School, LP School Muktapur , LP School Hawaibasti, and LP School Rhongkong and villagers of Muktapur, Hawaibasti and Rhongkong during the programme. Syntax tank,Sports items, Stationery education material, Chair Plastic, Gum boot, Umbrella & Torch light, Tarpaulin, Medicines.
A free medical camp was also organized at village Muktapur on Indo-Bangladesh border in the AOR of Ex-108 Bn BSF. The basic aim of the medical camp is to benefit the under privileged people of border areas. Total 300 civilians i.e. male, female and children from border villages Muktapur and other villages, were examined and given medicine in this camp by BSF doctors.
Border Security Force is not only guarding the borders of our country, but also putting efforts to make the life of border population comfortable, happier, healthy and disease free. In the past also, BSF has been conducting various medical camps and blood donation camps for population of state.(SP News)
