Above 60 participants take parts in the International Yoga Day celebration at NEIGRIHMS

Shillong, June 24: More than 60 enthusiastic participants performed yogic postures in unison and rhythm at the International Yoga Day celebration which was organized at NEIGRIHMS on June 21, 2023.

The event was organized by Department of Physiology and led by Dr. Rituparna Barooah, Professor and Head of the Department, who is herself a AYUSH Certified Level 3 Yoga Instructor, Trainer, and Evaluator.

The programme was inaugurated with ceremonial lamp lighting and prayer followed by a short welcome address by the Dean (Academics) and Director incharge, Prof. G. K. Medhi. Prof. C. Daniala, Medical Superintendent, NEIGRIHMS.

Ms. N. Tase, Professor-cum-Principal, College of Nursing, NEIGRIHMS, also graced the occasion. Healthy snacks and lemon juice were served to the participants after the programme.

This year’s theme for International Yoga Day was ‘Yoga For Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, which means ‘Yoga for the welfare of all in the form of ‘One World-One Family’.

The event was an opportunity for the participants to learn about the benefits of yoga and to experience the sense of community that comes from practicing yoga together.

The organizers of the event would like to thank all the participants for their enthusiasm and support. They would also like to thank the Department of AYUSH, Government of Meghalaya, for their support in organizing the event.
