All major markets in East Khasi Hills District including Shillong shall remain closed

Shillong, May 15: The Government of Meghalaya today has issued an order that, it is observed that the number of COVID-19 cases in the State continues to rise sharply and hospital bed occupancy is nearing saturation.

Therefore, in supersession to all orders issued in respect of Containment Measures in the State, the following revised consolidated order shall be enforced in the State with effect from  17th May, 2021 until further orders.

The order is applicable to entire State, Political, public, social and religious gatherings are not permitted including conferences, meetings and trainings, Entry of tourists from outside the State shall not be permitted and all tourist spots shall remain closed.

International Border Trade shall be suspended. Sports activities are not permitted. Inter-State movement of persons shall be restricted. This shall not apply for transit vehicles of Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram.

Deputy Commissioners are authorised to impose restrictions in their district depending on local situation. East Khasi Hills District, Lockdown shall be extended in East Khasi Hills District from 5:00 AM of 17th May, 2021 till 5:00 AM of 24th May, 2021.

Vehicular movement is restricted. Movement of vehicle shall be permitted only for essential services including Health Services. Inter-district movement of persons from and to East Khasi Hills District shall be restricted.

All major markets in East Khasi Hills District including Shillong shall remain closed. Essential goods will be made available through shops in the localities, All Central and State Government offices other than those already exempted shall be closed.

Exempted Central and State Government offices shall function with limited staff and not exceeding 30% strength for Group ‘B’, Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ staff. They shall close by 4:00 PM daily and shall also remain closed on Saturdays.

Banks and Post Offices are permitted to open with limited staff and not exceeding 30% strength for Group ‘B’, Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ staff. They shall close by 4:00 PM daily and shall also remain closed on Saturdays.

Opening of Essential Shops will be regulated by the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District. Movement of Agricultural inputs and farm produce in East Khasi Hills District will be regulated by the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District.

Ecommerce and Home delivery services for all goods are permitted subject to regulation by the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District. Restaurants, Cafes and food delivery services are permitted only for home-delivery services subject to regulation by the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District.

In-situ Construction works that does not involve movement of labour are permitted with due intimation to the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District.

Places of religious worship shall remain closed. Weddings are not permitted during the Lockdown period. Funeral gathering to be restricted to 15 persons with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner.

All essential commodities will be made available through shops in the localities. Citizens are requested to restrict themselves within their respective localities in order to contain the further spread of COVID-19 cases in the State.

In the order issued today in other Districts, Weekend Lockdown shall be enforced in the other 10 districts of the State from 5:00 AM of 22nd May, 2021 till 5:00 AM of 24th May, 2021

During the lockdown period exemptions were allowed to,  Health services including emergency services and vaccination, Agriculture and Veterinary Services. Movement of Essential goods. Goods Vehicles, E-Commerce Services, Supply of Medicines and Pharmaceuticals.

Home Delivery Services. Persons travelling on Essential Government Duty viz., Medical Teams and officials on COVID-19 Duty, Police, Security and Armed Forces, Civil Defence and Home Guards d Fire and Emergency Services.

Power (NEEPCO, MeECL, Powergrid, etc), Water Supply (PHE) g Roads and Buildings (PWD, NHAI, NHIDCL, etc), Municipal Services, Food Corporation of India, Information and Public Relations, Banks, Post and Telegraph, National Informatics Centre and Telecommunication Services,  Print and Electronic Media.Farming activities in rural areas. MGNREGA activities in rural areas.

All permitted activities are subject to strict compliance to these guidelines and the social distancing protocols issued by the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya.
