Assam Riffle distribute solar lamp to people of Arunachal Pradesh

Shillong, May 05: Tirap, Changlang and Longding Districts of South Arunachal Pradesh along Indo-Myanmar Border have lagged behind in Infrastructural development due to it’s inaccessibility, treacherous terrain and proliferation of insurgency. In a number of villages the basic necessities of safe drinking water and electricity in not available.

To alleviate the hardship of the local populace Assam Rifles has launched a major drive to brighten up the lives of about 20,000 people by providing Solar lamps to 3,000 houses in most far flung border villages. Guided by its motto of “FRIENDS OF THE HILL PEOPLE” the ASSAM RIFLES under the aegis indomitable DAO DIVISION in conjunction in the Eco Solutions, a Mumbai based NGO under Mr Yatendra Aggarwal took upon itself to light up the homes of all of South Arunachal Pradesh who do not have access to electricity. The dedicated efforts by the “North East Centric Force” alongwith the NGO resulted in eradication of darkness in three thousand of the remotest households of the three districts of South Arunachal Pradesh.

The last couple of days has witnessed the radiance of happily illuminated villages as about 3000 solar lamps were distributed to these yet to be electrified villages since their existence. About 20,000 people in the region will be benefited in terms of the availability of light derived from clean energy and that dispel the darkness in the villages and light up their lives especially the restless younger generation.

The force has been providing succour to the socio-economically disadvantaged people who have limited economic means, access to basic amenities & are residing in remote areas of the state. Speaking on the occasion, the DIG of Assam & Arunachal Range, Assam Rifles assured that the force is committed in helping out the various ethnic groups in the state besides ensuring peace & tranquility in the region.

The villagers have expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the efforts taken by Assam Rifles to lighten up their house as well as hopes. Such assistance will go a long way in bringing the hill people as well as “Friends of the Hill people” even closer to achieve sustained peace and prosperity in Arunachal Pradesh.
