Both Shillong and Tura seat all the nomination papers are in order

Shillong, March 24: The nomination paper of all the eight candidates for the Shillong Parliamentary seat is found valid. The eight candidates are, Vincent H Pala from the Congress, Paul Lyngdoh from the UDP, Shibun Lyngdoh from the BJP, Ameringtone  Kharshiing from the AAP, Richard Sahbong from the CPI(M) all are from political parties. The Independent candidate include, Rev PBM Basaiawmoit, Denis Siangshai and Iboryna Shylla.

Interestingly, in the matrilineal Meghalaya where number of female voters are more than their male counter part, Iboryna Shylla is the only women candidate who has file the nomination for the coming Lok Sabha Election.

For Tura Parliamentary seat, the nomination papers filed by Congress candidate, Daryl William Momin and National People’s Party candidate, Purno Agitok Sangma contesting for the Tura parliamentary seat, which goes for polling on April 9 was found to be valid.
Scrutiny of nomination papers started at 11 am today.
“Both papers were scrutinized and found valid,” said Returning Officer Pravin Bakshi.
Both Momin and Sangma will now wrestle with each others for the Tura parliamentary seat.

The last date of withdrawal of candidature has been fixed on March 26 up to 3:00 pm. (SP News)
