Cattle smuggler nabbed byn the BSF in South Garo Hills

Shillong, March 18: One Indian Cattle smuggler was apprehended by BSF troops of BOP Baldamgiri in South West Garo Hills distt of Meghalaya, while he was trying to smuggle  26 Nos cattle from India to Bangladesh near BP No. 1071/9-S. The apprehended person was identified as Rashidul Islam (25 yrs) S/O Md Mannam r/o vill- Barojhura, Po- Kakripara, Ps- Mankachar, Distt- Dhubri (Assam).

These Cattles were being brought from Assam to Border area of Meghalaya for smuggling to Bangladesh. Accordingly, BSF along with Meghalaya police have been laying Mobile check post on converging points to intercept Cattle going towards Border for smuggling to Bangladesh, as after reaching the Zero line, due to terrain and the weather, interception becomes difficult. BSF is committed to avert the smuggling of cattle through the border in Meghalaya.

During last week, BSF troops on Meghalaya border also apprehended 05 Bangladeshi illegal immigrants and seized 461 Btls Liquor, 4.5 Kg Hemp, Forest produce and other contraband items worth over Rs. 8 Lacs while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh.

Apprehended person and seized items have been handed over to concerned department for further disposal and legal action as per law of the land.(SP News)
