District Magistrate, EKH District prohibit the use of Chinese manjha, as it poses threat to humans

Shillong, March 27: The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District has issued a prohibitory order prohibiting the use of Chinese manjha, nylon, glass-coated,synthetic thread for kite flying as it poses serious threat to humans and environment.

Since several accidents have taken place in the past due to the use of such threads, the manufacturer, sale, storage and use of Chinese manjha, nylon, glass-coated, synthetic is also prohibited for kite flying.

Violators shall be penalised under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, prevention of cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, Indian Penal Code and other provisions of law. The order shall come into force with immediate effect throughout the entire East Khasi Hills District and until further orders.
