Emerging Options – Sports As A Career in Armed Forces and Police

Shillong, march 18: Lalnunpuia, a resident of Seling, 40 kms away from capital city Aizawl and a well known judoka of Mizoram is now in Shillong working in Assam Regimental Centre, Happy Valley Shillong. He had taken part in many National Judo Championships as well as in few international judo events.

He bagged gold medal in the Junior National in the weight category of below 55 kgs in Bangalore in 2011 and represented India in Cuba in 2011 bagging bronze medal in the same weight category. In the picture Lalnunpuia (white and green track suit) with Bah Larry P Warjri Vice President Judo Federation of India and President Meghalaya Judo Association and other members of MJA.

Lalnunpuia will take part in few of the remaining 10 Days Free Demo cum Coaching Camp in Judo in the state in some districts so as to encourage youngsters to take up judo as regular sports. Along with him in the photo, Shri Field Mission Kharsati from Happy Valley is also working in ARC Happy Valley.

In boxing, he had taken part in Iran at the International Youth Boxing Championship where he brought bronze medal for the country in 2010. Shri Kharsati also bagged gold medal at the Indo – Sri Lanka Boxing Exchange 2013 in Bangalore. This proved that through sports one can get themselves easily in armed forces if someone is serious and taking the games in the right spirit. Recently three judokas of Meghalaya were appointed in Meghalaya Police.(SP News)
