Shillong, Oct 01: The Khasi Jaintia National Union (KJNU) as a Social organization operated within the District of West Jaintia Hills District beg to bring to your kind notice that the organization has for the past weeks received several complaint from the common peoples individuals and groups of peoples with regard to the overcharging of rate by the saloons operated with the District for the work of hair cutting, hair dyeing, hair colouring, skin beautifician, massage, shaving etc.
The KJNU in the letter sent to the DC mention that the price is doubling from the previous rate done before the lockdown, an example of this can be cited from the rate of hair cutting, shaving which used to be charged with Rs. 50/- only.
But after the lockdown suddenly the price used to be charged for the same is Rs.100/- only, by doing this overcharging it has cause great inconvience to the common peoples who have to struggle to survive in this hard time when their business is not running as usual after the period of lockdown due to corona virus.
The organization has come to know that the new rate was high without the knowledge of the District Administration who is suppose to look after the subject matter and fixed the rate Same, as such considering the very act of these saloon who operated within the District it has become totally illegally which amount to harassment of the general public at large.
These Saloon seem to have their the market of their very items they suppose to perform and undertake at their own whim and will without the watchful of your good office by fixing their own rate of charge whenever they wanted and whatever they wanted.
The KJNU said that the act of overcharging of their various items under the performances of these saloon is unwarranted as such the organization kindly request you to take necessary action in this Subject matter and to be please to regulate the minimum rate of each items they are suppose to perform or undertake to the general public so as to avoid the problems face by the common peoples who struggling to survive event their daily needs, this was stated by Tuesday Bang President of the KJNU Thadlaskein Unit.
