Shillong, May 13: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) today submit memorandum to the Meghalaya Sport Minister Mr. Banteidor Lyngdoh that Meghalaya Government should immediately implement the Meghalaya State Sports Policy 2019 and the Meghalaya State Youth Policy 2021.
In the Memorandum the organisation appreciated to the commitment of the Meghalaya State Government in trying to promote Games and Sports in the State and also in addressing the prevailing issue relating to the overall development and welfare of the youths in the State by framing the Meghalaya State Sports Policy 2019 and the Meghalaya State Youth Policy 2021.
The HYC firmly believes that the Meghalaya State Sports Policy 2019 which was adopted by the Government of Meghalaya will go a long way towards promotion of Sports activities in the State.
It is surprised to see that the Meghalaya State Sports Policy which was notified all the way back on the 10th June, 2019 till date has not been implemented by the State Government. They feel that this delay in implementation of this Policy is an act of denying the sports person to excel and is like an empty promise which needs to be addressed immediately.
The Meghalaya State Youth Policy 2021 was notified on the 1st September 2021 but till date this important Policy for the welfare and development of the youths in the State has not been implemented as guaranteed and spelled out in this Policy.
In this regard, HYC would like to demand from the Meghalaya Government to take necessary steps to implement the Meghalaya State Sports Policy 2019 and the Meghalaya State Youth Policy 2021 immediately. The Memorandum was sign by the president Mr. Mr. Roberjune Kharjahrin and General Secretary Mr. Roykupar Synrem.
