Meghalaya Education Minister inaugurate the Anveshan 2023 organised by AIU at NEHU

Shillong, February 23: The  Anveshan 2023, the flagship academic event of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, is being hosted by North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, on 22-23 Feb 2024 marking yet another milestone to inculcate young minds towards innovation and academic excellence.

The event witnessed the convergence of leading minds from academia and government with a vibrant exchange of ideas and insights, which will culminate on 23rd Feb 2024.

Anveshan 2023, the Student Research Convention, commenced with fervor and enthusiasm as distinguished guests, esteemed faculty, and bright young minds gathered to celebrate academic excellence and innovation.

The inaugural function of the event was graced by Shri Rakkam A. Sangma, Honourable  Minister of Education, Government of Meghalaya, as the Chief Guest and Prof T.P. Singh, Emeritus Scientist from AIIMS, New Delhi, as the Guest of Honour.

Prof. P.S. Shukla, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of NEHU chaired the program. The Inauguration began with the welcome address delivered by Prof. S. R. Joshi, setting the stage for a day filled with intellectual exploration and scholarly discourse.

In his address, Prof. Joshi emphasized the significance of the convention in providing a platform for students to showcase their research prowess and contribute to the advancement of knowledge.

The Chief Guest, Shri Rakkam A. Snagma, Education Minister, Meghalaya underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to promoting regional research and innovation. He delivered an impassioned address, emphasizing the importance of nurturing a culture of inquiry and innovation among the youth of the state.

Stressing the pivotal role of research in shaping the future, the Minister stressed the need for students to harness their curiosity and critical thinking skills to tackle real-world challenges.

Adding to the event’s prestige was the esteemed presence of Prof. T P Singh, the honorable Guest of Honor and SERB distinguished Professor in AIIMS Delhi, whose scholarly contributions have left an indelible mark on the academic landscape.

Prof. Singh’s address inspired attendees to push the boundaries of knowledge and strive for academic excellence rather than study for recognition and accolades.

Dr. Amarendra Pani, anofficial of AIU highlighted the importance of collaboration and partnership in advancing the academic agenda at a national level.

Chairing the event was Prof. P.S. Shukla whohighlighted the significance of such programs, which becomes a platform for meaningful discourse and intellectual exchange between the participants, distinguished guests, and experts in the field. He advised the student’s community to exploit the presence of experts and scientists for their gain through interactions and inquiry.

Renowned cardiologist Prof. Animesh Mishra from NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, delivered a captivating keynote lecture on “Self-Reliance and Innovation in the Pursuit of Excellence in Research and Development.” In his address, he emphasized the importance of self-reliance and innovation in addressing today’schallenges.

Drawing from his extensive experience in cardiology and medical research, Prof. Mishra underscored the need for healthcare systems to adapt and innovate to meet the evolving needs of patients and communities.

Prof. Timir Tripathi from the Department of Zoology, NEHU, extended the Vote of Thanks to all attendees, expressing gratitude on behalf of the organizing committee for their presence and support.. He also thanked the esteemed guests and participants for sharing their research insights and inspiring the audience with their innovative ideas.

Anveshan is a platform for students to showcase their project proposals following their selection from the initial university-level competition. The convention aims to spotlight innovative ideas and research endeavors from diverse academic disciplines.

From this regional round, six standout projects will advance to the national event hosted by Mumbai University, where they will compete on a broader stage. This initiative promotes academic excellence and fosters collaboration and the exchange of ideas among aspiring scholars from across the country.

Anveshan 2023 provided a platform for researchers, scholars, and students to showcase their work, exchange ideas, and forge new collaborations.The first day of the event at NEHU culminated with the evaluation of the oral presentations by the students on their respective projects which experts in the field evaluated. The vent will conclude on 23 February 2024.
