Meghalaya PWD invites public feedback on draft safeguard documents for MLCIP

Shillong, July 3: The Public Works Department (PWD), Government of Meghalaya, has called upon government departments, community representatives, civil society organisations, road users, and the general public to review and provide feedback on the draft environmental and social safeguard documents prepared for the proposed Meghalaya Logistics and Connectivity Improvement Project (MLCIP).

In a public notice, the department stated that the documents open for consultation include the Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF), Indigenous Peoples Planning Framework (IPPF), Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF), and the Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP).

The draft documents have been made available for public review on the official website of the Meghalaya PWD. Hard copies can also be accessed at the offices of the Public Works Department and the Project Director of the Meghalaya Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (MIDFC).

The department has invited stakeholders and members of the public to submit their comments, suggestions, and observations by July 23, 2026. Those unable to attend the consultation meetings may send their feedback via email to megapwd2024@gmail.com, megamidfc2024@gmail.com, or esmlcip@gmail.com.

According to the department, the feedback received during the consultation process will help strengthen the project’s environmental and social safeguard frameworks and contribute to the effective and inclusive implementation of the Meghalaya Logistics and Connectivity Improvement Project.
