Mairang, Dec 05: The newly-constructed Dispensary of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department at Dongki –Ingding, West Khasi Hills, was inaugurated today by Hon’ble Speaker, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Shri Metbah Lyngdoh in the presence of Shri HB Nongsiej, Minister, Government of Meghalaya, Dr, GMRK Marak, Director AH & Veterinary Meghalaya, Shillong, Shri A Nongbri, SDO (C) Mairang Civil Sub Division and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Metbah Lyngdoh, Speaker, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly,said that he’s happy to know that the inauguration of the dispensary also falls on the same day as the farmers’ day in Meghalaya and hoped that the Veterinary Dispensary would serve the needs of the people of the area for accessing better health care facility for their animals.
The Speaker said “This dispensary should not be accessed only for seeking treatment for your sick livestock but especially for their preventive care. Only then will you reap the maximum benefits of having it in your locality.” At the same time, he also asserted that the doctors and Veterinary Field Assistants (VFAs) appointed in the dispensary should be present to serve the residents.
Shri Metbah Lyngdoh, who is also the local MLA announced that the government has sanctioned Rs 4 Crore for setting up a Piggery farm at Mawsawa, Mairang Civil Sub – Division. Others who spoke on the occasion include Shri HB Nongsiej, Minister, Government of Meghalaya, Shri A Nongbri, SDO (C) Mairang Civil Sub – Division, Dr. GMRK Marak, Director, AH and Veterinary Meghalaya, Shillong, Sordar Dongki-Ingding, Shri PM Syiemlieh, Syiem Hima Nongkhlaw among others.
