MSSASA demand,Govt should constitute an inquiry committee to probe the anomalies done NIOS

Shillong, January 24: The Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) trainee teachers under the umbrella of the Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) today kick started their two day sit in demonstration inside the premise of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) Shillong office located at Laitumkhrah demanding immediate rectification of the errors in the results of D.El.Ed trainee batch 2013.

The agitated trainee teachers have also demanded that the state government should constitute an inquiry committee to probe into the anomalies in the result of D.EL.ED declared by NIOS.

Number around 400 plus the trainee teachers belonging to SSA, government, Deficit and Ad hoc teaching at Elementary level trained in D.El.Ed were seen carrying placards which read ‘NIOS we want complete result’, ‘Why no formal response’, ‘We are teachers not NIOS flunky slaves,” etc…

The trainee teachers has demanded a written assurance from the Director of NIOS, Shillong on their demands, failing which the teachers will be forced to intensify their agitation.

Speaking to reporters after the conclusion of the demonstration on the first day, general secretary of MSSASA, H. M Marbaniang said, “If the authorities concern fails to pay heed to our demand we will be forced to demand from the state government to remove the signboard of NIOS within two weeks.”

He informed that around 90 percent of the teachers were declared as unsuccessful all due to the anomalies in the results.

“If the concern authorities at NIOS fail to deliver any assurance over the grievances faced by the teachers by tomorrow them we will be forced to announce stronger agitation programmes,” he said adding that the association will also be compelled to demand replacement of task in providing training to the teachers to other institutions like IGNOU, since NIOS is full of inefficiency.

He said the association is keen to rectify the current anomalies in NIOS with an intention that the 8000 teachers currently approved and sanctioned by the government will not face a similar hardship.

Marbaniang further informed that the enhancement of salary of teachers was approved by Project Approval Board (PAB), however the delay in rectifying the anomalies have affected the teachers.
