Shillong, November 22: The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care and General Medicine, NEIGRIHMS in collaboration with theIndian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM) organized a transformative Outreach Program in Northeast India on the recently at NEIGRIHMS.
The event featured a Basic Mechanical Ventilation and Point of Care Ultrasound Workshop, drawing 110 doctors across various medical colleges and hospitals in Northeast India with Expert Faculty from the ISCCM who came from all over the country headed by its President Prof. Sheila Myatra of the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.
Prof. KG Lynrah, Professor of General Medicine, welcomed the gathering which was presided by Director NEIGRIHMS, Prof. Nalin Mehta, and the Chief Guest, Dr. Lajja Ram Bishnoi, IPS, Director General of Police, Meghalaya. Other notable figures present included Prof. A J Patowary, In-Charge Dean of NEIGIRHMS and Shri VivekSyiem , SP (City),East Khasi Hills , Shillong , Meghalaya.
ISCCM Shillong BranchChairperson Dr. E. Sohkhia, Secretary Dr. I. Tiewsoh and other members provided free Basic Life Support (BLS) training for 85 Meghalaya Police personnel.
In the valedictory ceremony, the Director NEIGRIHMS, Prof (Dr.) Nalin Mehta highlighted the critical role of Basic Life Support (BLS) among first responders, acknowledging and commending the ISCCM for its efforts in organizing the outreach program.
Chief Guest, Dr. Lajja Ram Bishnoi, IPS DGP-Meghalaya, expressed gratitude to the ISCCM and NEIGRIHMS for organizing a successful Basic Life Support (BLS) training workshop for the Meghalaya Police. He shared insightful statistics on the challenges faced by police personnel, underscoring the importance of such training programs.
Prof. Nari Mary Lyngdoh, Head of the Department of Anesthesiology& Critical Carehighlighted the collaborative efforts of the ISCCM, NEIGRIHMS, and the Meghalaya Police fostering a culture of preparedness and competence among healthcare professionals and first responders in the region.
