Shillong, Jan 23: Meghalaya TMC launched the unique MYE scheme that promises 3 lakh jobs in the next five years and monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000 for the unemployed youth of the state.
Expressing his gratitude towards the people for this tremendous response, Meghalaya TMC leader Andrew Shullai said: “We are elated to share that with the amazing support from our youth, Meghalaya TMC’s MYE Card has recorded over 2,00,000 registrations.
Political parties, who have no vision or determination to work for the people, are trying to spread lies against us. But this number shows that the youth of Meghalaya want a change and they want a better future.”*
Shullai, who will be contesting in the upcoming Assembly elections from the Jowai constituency, said, *“The outstanding response has doubled our motivation to work harder for the youth of our state and provide them with the employment opportunities that they deserve.”*
Under the MYE scheme, every unemployed youth, between the ages of 21-40 years, can register for the unemployment allowance scheme. The registered youth will receive a unique ID-enabled MYE Card which will serve as an assured guarantee for the scheme. People who opted for online registration also received the digital version of their MYE Card upon completion of the process.
In a statement released on Twitter, *AITC Meghalaya tweeted: “More and more youth are securing their future with our revolutionary scheme. With their support, we move closer towards our goal of ushering in an era of growth and prosperity.”*
While launching the campaign earlier this month, the Meghalaya TMC emphasised upon the MDA government’s failure in creating job opportunities or generating employment. This eventually caused 37% of the youth to be excluded from the active worker population of the state and impacted families as Meghalaya has the highest dependency ratio (65.9) in the country..
