Shillong, March 06: The election to the post of Chairman in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council was held today which Smti Telinia Thangkhiew sponcer by the ARPA wont the election against the Congress candidate Mr Mansyudy Nongmre,
The election was held by secret ballot, The ARPA candidate Smti Telinia Thangkhiew got 15 vote, the Congress Candidate Mr Manstudy Nongrem got 12 votes and two vote were invalid.
By this election the Khasi Hills Autonomous District council got the first women Chairperson. The new Chairperson Smti Thangkhiew in her speech thanks the members for electing her as the chairperson of the august house in the KHADC. She assures that she will discharges her duty with out fear or favors.
All the members who participate in their vote of thank has express there cooperation with the chairperson in the floor of the house and they have express their faith in her that they will get justice while participating in the discussion in the floor of the House.(SP News)
