Shillong, March 07: The budget session of Meghalaya for the year 2014-2015 begin today with the customary address by the Governor Dr K K Paul.
In his address the governor has touches all departments of the government and the programmed and policy that the government intent to curry out in the coming finical year.
The government is committed to ensure a better delivery system so that all citizens of the state obtain their rightful entitlements. The most crucial challenge is that of ensuring accountability, transparency and effective governance. Eradication of corruption at all levels is the prime object of the government.
While referring to law and order, the state as a whole is by and large is peaceful and criminal element is under control the police is doing a commendable job. However, the increased activities of various of GNLA in Garo Hills and parts of West Khasi Hills is a serious concern.
During the year 2013, 108 militant were arrested and 19 militant were surrendered and large number of arms and ammunition were seized. In tackling law and order the state is dependant on the central arms police forces.
When it comes to planning the tentative plan out lay for the year 2014-2015 has been fixed at Rs 4545 cores.(SP News)
