Maligaon, August 12: The 70th All India Railway Table Tennis Championship (Men & Women) 2024 – 2025 is being organised by the Northeast Frontier Railway. The championship started on 12th August, 2024 at N.F. Railway Indoor Stadium, Maligaon, Guwahati.
The General Manager/NFR, ShriChetan Kumar Shrivastava, as Chief Guest inaugurated the sporting event hoisting the Tournament Flag and addressed the gathering in presence of other senior officials of N.F. Railway (NFR) and N.F. Railway Sports Association (NFRSA).
President/NFRSA, , ShriSandeep Sharma welcomed all participating players and officials of the sporting event which will last for five days and will conclude on 16th August, 2024.
There are 19teams representing various Zonal Railways of Indian Railways will participate in the championship. 13 mens’ teams and 06womens’ teams consisting of a total of approximately 180 persons including players, coach officials, referees and Railway Sports Promotion Board Observers will take part in this championship.
National players who represented India at various International events both in men and women category will be in action in this championship tournament.
Top seed players from mens’team like Jeet Chandra, AnirbanGhosh, Akash Pal and RonitBhanja will be representing their respective zones. From womens’ team players likeSutirtha Mukherjee, PoymanteeBaisya&MoumitaDutta will clash for the championship with other deserving players participating in the event.
Sports are an integral part for one’s life to keep mind and body healthy. N.F. Railway is working with the objective to create and develop new talent in the field of sports by taking various steps which will in turn bring glory to Indian Railways. Organising such kind of a championship will boost the overall development of the upcoming youth.
