The BSF Meghalaya seized 210 cattle from the IB for further smuggling to Bangladesh

Shillong, Feb 21: The BSF Meghalaya seized 210 cattle from the bordering area of East Khasi hills, Meghalaya which were stored close to the International border for further smuggling to Bangladesh.

Acting on specific tip-off, alert troops of 04 Bn BSF Meghalaya deployed in Nayabazar area confiscated 210 cattle from the forest area close to village Mawdang, East Khasi Hills which were kept in improvised bamboo shelters.

Smugglers often make attempts to smuggle these cattle in small groups through unfenced patches during night. BSF from the bordering area of East Khasi hills has seized 613 cattle since January 2023. Seized cattle were handed over to PS Pynursla for further action.

The BSF is maintaining high degree of alertness in the bordering areas to maintain peace and to prevent all types of trans – border crimes.
