The BSF tell BGB that NE Militant have 66 terror camps in Bangladesh

Shillong, March 09: The Bi-annual, Border Co-ordination meeting between the Inspectors General, Border Security Force and Region Comdrs, Border Guard Bangladesh was held at Shillong.   In the meeting, the Border Security Force  has handed over a list of 66 camps of north-east insurgents to the Border Guard Bangladesh, seeking actions against them.

Sudhir Kumar Srivastava, IG, BSF Assam Frontier, told reporters in Shillong  “We have requested our counterparts in Bangladesh for cooperation in dismantling the camps of insurgents from the region.”

BSF has handed over a list of 66 camps that exist in Bangladesh. The list was handed over at the 3-day bi-annual Inspector General level meeting of border management and coordination held from March 6 at the headquarters of Meghalaya Frontier of the BSF here.

The camps belonged to ULFA and NDFB (anti-talks) of Assam, PLA and KYKL of Manipur, NSCN (IM) of Nagaland besides those of the Tripura’s NLFT and Meghalaya’s HNLC and ANVC-B, the BSF official said.

Brig General Habibul Karim, Region Commander North East Region, who led a 20-member delegation from Bangladesh, had assured actions against those camps located all along the northern parts of Bangladesh, Srivastava said.  The inspectors general of Meghalaya, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram and Cachar frontiers of BSF officials attended the meeting along with an official representative of the Ministry of External Affairs.

The BGB delegation led by Brig Gen Habibul Karim, ndc, psc, Region Commander North East Region, accompanied by Brig Gen Syed Ahmed Ali, Region Commander, South East Region  and Sector commanders of Sylhet, Rangamati, Comilla, Khagrachari, Mymensingh, Guimara, Srimongal, Bandarban, staff officers of BGB  Headquarters and representatives from Ministry Of Home Affairs, Ministry Of Foreign Affairs and Narcotic Control Bureau Bangladesh arrived at Shillong on 06th March 2014.

The BSF delegation was led by Shri Sudhir Kumar Srivastava, IG, BSF Guwahati, Shri Anil Kumar, IPS, IG, BSF Meghalaya, Shri B N Sharma, IG , BSF, Tripura and associated by sector DIsG of Tripura, Mizoram & Cachar, Meghalaya and Guwahati Frontiers, staffs officer from BSF Hqrs New Delhi , Nodal Officer from BSF Hqrs Kolkata and representative of Ministry of External Affairs and Narcotics Control Bureau.

The conference points were mainly focused on common concerns of both the border guarding forces for effective border management, peace and tranquility on the border.  We have emphasized on the following issues of Trans-border crimes committed by Bangladesh nationals/criminals inside Indian Territory, Illegal intrusion of Bangladesh nationals into Indian territory, Prevention of smuggling of fake Indian currency notes and other contrabands items, Poaching of Indian natural resources by Bangladesh nationals from Indian Territory, especially from the river beds, Obstruction to developmental activities on Indian border areas by Border Guard Bangladesh.

The BSF said , “We have also provided facts and figures of all trans- border crimes committed by Bangladesh nationals inside Indian Territory, apprehension of Bangladesh nationals who illegally entered into Indian Territory, seizure figure of forest products, narcotic items and other contrabands items.”

Thjey added, ” We have requested our counterpart to take effective measures to stop trans-border crimes and to prevent smuggling on our common border.”

“Our friends from the counterpart side also emphasized upon Firing, Killing and Injuring of unarmed Bangladesh nationals by Indian nationals. We investigated into the allegation and it was found that when the Bangladesh criminals had illegally entered into Indian territory that too at odd hours of the night for committing dacoity & theft they were fired upon by local villagers.

We also requested that the Bangladeshi nationals should be discouraged and prevented in crossing of International Border so that their direct confrontation with Indian nationals could be avoided and the valuable lives of human being may be saved, “the  BSF official said.

Border Guard Bangladesh also emphasized for taking appropriate action against personnel involved in smuggling of various types of drugs, narcotics including phensedyl, wine and hemp etc., from India to Bangladesh.

Srivastava also asseted that the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere and discussed many issues like better border management, tackling smuggling of banned cough syrup Phensydyl and fake currency and reducing border crimes and dacoities.  BSF also requested for early solution of disputes regarding erection of barbed wire fencing in some patches of the border, especially the single row fencing, he said.(SP News)
