The cabinet decided to revoked Administrator Rule in the GHADC

Shillong, June 15: The cabinet today decided to revoke Administrator Rule in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC). With this decision it will enable the elected representative to elect the new Chief Executive   Member to the GHADC and to have the executive committee to function as an elected constitutional body.

The Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, the decision of the cabinet will be intimated to the governor so that the special session will be called to enable the elected MDC to elect the new CEM in the GHADC. With the forming of the EC they have to pass the budget for the year 2017-2018.

The GHADC has been place with the Administrator Rule since 4th April 2017 after the constitutional crisis arise in the GHADC when the former CEM resign without passing the budget for the financial year. In this circumstances the state government has to intervene by placing Administrator Rule to look into the GHADC. With this decision of the cabinet to revoke it will end the Administrator Rule in the GHADC.

The Chief Minister also inform that the cabinet has amended the Meghalaya minor minerals concession rules, 2016 with the insertion with an amendment of rule 24 and rule 25. And clause(g) shall be deleted from rule 24the objective of amending this rule is to simplify the mining activities in the state.
